Classroom Update
BARRANDHANG (Kinder/Yr 1)
Dinawan (Year 2/3)

Students are working exceptionally well in Mrs Elwin's Maths class, learning how to tell and write time from analog and digital clocks to the nearest five minutes, mentally add or subtract 10 or 100 to a given number 100–900, and use estimation to solve mathematical problems.
Year 3 have just completed their second novel study in Literacy, Roland Harvey's book, 'Off we Go Around Australia." We really enjoyed this book, with it's madness and mayhem of the fabulous family holidays. While reading this book students have been learning to write Explanations.
Year 3/4/5/6 travelled to Griffith last Friday to see the science show, 'You are a Doughnut' - a hilarous journey through the our Digestive System. Students are planning their own explanation to share at our Assembly next Friday.
Bidyin (Year 4/5/6)
Last week, the 5/6 students finished their short novel ‘The black cockatoo’ and have begun reading their new short novel, ‘Dirran’. Each week the students have explicitly learned 9 new words drawn from our novel study, which become apart of our word wall. These words vary from tier 2 to tier 3 vocabulary words.
The targeted words are carefully chosen to demonstrate how students can elevate their vocabulary—replacing everyday words like crying with wailing, or boring with tedious. Our focus this term has been on not only learning the words from our word wall but also applying them confidently in both writing tasks and everyday conversation.
Well done to all students and families for their improved efforts with homework! It’s wonderful to see students reading more regularly at home and taking responsibility for completing their project checkpoints on time. Keep up the fantastic work!
