BARRANDHANG (Kinder/Yr 1)

Kinder/1/2 Religion

We all need to feel like we belong. Having a sense of belonging is important to everyone. This week in Religion we have been discussing our families, and other groups we belong to, including God's family and our Church family.

We will be looking at Baptism next week, so we would love any photos or information about family Baptism celebrations. These can be brought into school or emailed to Mrs Elwin - jacinta.elwin@cg.catholic.edu.au

Dinawan (Year 2/3)

Year 3 students have started a new novel in Literacy lessons, "Off We Go Around Australia" by Roland Harvey. Students are learning about special places in Australia as we learn to write an Explanation form of Writing.

Year 2 are improving their writing as they learn more about sentence structure - including being able to recognise parts of senteces including Subject and Predicate, nouns and verbs.

In Art lessons we have learnt about the famous painter, Vincent van Gogh and have attempted to replicate a couple of his beautiful paintings - The Starry Night and Sunflowers, using both paint and oil pastels. Some of the students art work is very impressive!

Mrs Elwin is taking some Long Service Leave from the 10th June till the end of the term. She is heading to Europe to attend the Jubilee Pilgrimage in Rome, Sienna and Florence, hoping to see the new Pope! While Mrs Elwin is on leave Ms Alison Wheeler will be teaching the class. Thanks Ms Wheeler!
