Principal's Report

A warm welcome to our families, for the 2025 school year, especially our Kinder families!

Summer time for teachers is filled with sunshine and smiles, and lots of getting ready for the year. We hope you all had the opportunity to spend time with friends and family doing fun things.

There have been a few changes to our staff roster for the start of the year – Ms Emily, Miss Corcoran and Ms Wheeler are taking extended leave this year. Congratulations to Ms Emily and family on the birth of Essy! Mrs Shaw has reduced her days. We are continuing our recruitment process for an additional class teacher, please put the word out through your networks if you know anyone! For first term Mrs Elwin and I will teach Year 2/3. Mrs Worland teaches Kinder/Year 1 and Mrs Fyfe teaches Years 4/5/6. Congratulations to Mrs Fyfe for completing her studies, with outstanding results. We are very proud of you! Mrs Golding continues in the REC role, supporting teachers with planning and programming across the curriculum. Our teachers continue to be supported by the most outstanding Classroom Support Assistants in the world! Another warm welcome is extended to our new parish priest, Fr Hilary. Fr Hilary has extended the invite to all families to join us for the Opening School Mass on Friday 21st February.

Our focus on attendance last year resulted in higher attendance rates across all year levels. Most students were invited to join in the reward day and a lucky 13 had an additional reward for being part of the 100s club! This focus will continue for 2025. The reward for students with an attendance rate of 85% and above for Term 1 will be a Griffith trip to the cinema and lunch. The 100s club will also continue. If attendance at school is a challenge for your child, or you, please contact the office to arrange a meeting to discuss this.

Start of year notes and permissions will be coming out in the next weeks, please keep an eye out for them and return as soon as possible.

It is wonderful to see our students straight back into routine. We have observed our School Rules in action, both in the classroom and on the playground. Kind voice, kind words, kind actions guide our decision making and interactions with others. Even the Kindy students are demonstrating these! Teachers and students are setting up for a huge term of learning, development and growth. This week has seen units of learning introduced, expectations set, goals developed and routines embedded. Our Direct Instruction Programs will kick off next week. To ensure teachers receive their allocated planning time, classes will combine as Infants and Primary on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoon.

We hope to see as many families as possible this term for Mass, for Assemblies, for Family Meetings, for the Colour Run! Information and dates for events will be available closer to each date, please watch for these. If you would like to speak with a teacher, please contact the office to arrange a suitable time.
